The Dignity Act would combine changes to border security, immigration enforcement, asylum processing and legal immigration with a program allowing eligible undocumented immigrants to obtain authorization to live and work in the United States under specified conditions.
The proposed Dignity Program would require participants to meet eligibility requirements, undergo background checks, work and make required payments. Participation would not itself provide a pathway to citizenship. The bill also includes separate provisions affecting Dreamers and legal immigration.
